Love Island viewers have claimed the show let slip the winner minutes before Maya Jama's announcement. Fans have worked out the winner was easy to deduce before Maya's confirmation.

Fans noticed that Whitney and Lochan were stood on the right of Maya whilst Jess and Sammy were stood on the left of Maya. It's a recurring theme for Love Island winners.

Indeed, multiple winners from the previous series have been stood on the host's left side. It includes Kai and Sanam, who won the winter edition in South Africa earlier this year.

Fans also claimed Maya Jama being unable to play Sammy and Jess' best bits - and airing Whitney and Lochan's instead - was a sign. Oyo said: "Oyin said: "The fact that Sammy and Jess’ best bits were shown over Whitney and Lochan’s was a clear sign that they were the winners. I should’ve been prepared #loveIsland"."

Chloe said: "It’s always the couple to the left… re watch every season… apart from Paige and fin I think? Every winner couple has stood to the left… #loveisland" Stacey typed: "You can tell by the sides the final 2 are stood that Whitney and Lochan have won. Winner is always on our left #LoveIsland."

Cake said: "Wonder if the winners will be stood on the left .. #loveisland" Utd said: "Apparently the couple who is stood on the left is the winner…. Let’s see it it’s the case for the 7th year in a row!!! #LoveIsland" Loz agreed: "Apparently the couple who is stood on the left is the winner…. Let’s see it it’s the case for the 7th year in a row!!! #LoveIsland"

"Apparently in 6 of the 7 Love Island finals the winners have always stood on the presenter's left, and people think this is significant. I feel a binomial hypothesis test coming on," Emily Rae typed. They beat Whitney Adebayo and Lochan Nowacki in the final two, while Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas came in third and Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble placed fourth.
